La Poderosa 1 sees the return of the 90's and 00's style alternative comic book with Colombian Ecuadorian cartoonist Powerpaola. Reproduced in 2 color pantone and drawn with Powerpaola's signature expressive line. This is the first issue in an ongoing series.
Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, Berlin; Paola zips between the three.
After returning from a holiday retreat in Buenos Aires, Paola plans a stop over in Amsterdam to visit a friend. Due to a complication with her Visa, a 3 month visit may be reduced to 3 days unless she can find a solution. Will she get to complete her course as a Guest Professor at a University in Berlin?
Author Bio
Powerpaola is an Artist, cartoonist and illustrator. Born in Quito, Ecuador; she grew up in Cali and Medellín, Colombia, where she studied Artistic Expression and Visual Arts. She has exhibited her travel diaries, artist books, drawings and paintings in several galleries. Author of Virus Tropical, Por dentro/ Inside, Diario de Powerpaola, qp (Éramos Nosotros), Todo Va a Estar Bien, Nos Vamos and All My Bicycles (Fantagraphics) and the artist book: Amazonas published by por Artedos Gráfico. She is the Artistic director of the animated feature Virus Tropical by Santiago Caicedo, based on her graphic novel. Powerpaola works as a cartoonist with a monthly comic at Lecturas Dominicales, El Tiempo, Colombia. She was part of the collectives: Taller 7, Chicks On Comics, La Casa Telepática and the duo: No Tan Parecidos.
